#BeOceanMinded
898 pieces of plastic.
That's how much was found inside one sea turtle that lived just one month. Ben's #BeOceanMinded project turns that into something people can't look away from.

The 898 Project
Ben worked with biologists and scientists to lay out every piece of plastic recovered from the turtle, then photographed it all as a single image.
The work became a TEDx talk, and it travels with him to schools and events — a picture that makes the problem impossible to ignore.

Why sea turtles
Sea turtles are an indicator species: their health reflects the health of the ocean and the coastline they depend on.
Ben's images follow them through every stage of life, from hatchlings taking their first swim to females nearly 100 years old.
